What is actually happening down there

Rough heel skin is not dry skin. It is dead keratin that has been compressed, layer on layer, by every step you have taken this year. Under a microscope it looks less like skin and more like pressed board — dense, closed, and stacked maybe forty layers deep.

Moisturiser is water and oil. It can soften the top surface of that stack, and it does, for a few hours. It cannot get underneath it. So the top loosens, the compressed layer beneath stays rigid, and by morning you are back where you started with a bottle that is emptier.

This is a surface problem, not a hydration problem. Cream is the wrong tool, applied faithfully, for years.

So the layer has to come off

A rotating abrasive roller takes the compressed surface down in passes. That part is not new — pumice stones have done a worse version of it for four thousand years.

What is new is where the dust goes.

Filing dry skin produces a startling amount of fine powder. On a manual file it lands on the bathroom floor, in the bath, and on you. SoleReset runs a vacuum chamber behind the roller, so the powder is pulled into a sealed collection cup as it comes off. You empty the cup into the bin and there is nothing to sweep.

Is it going to hurt?

It should not. You are removing dead surface material, which has no nerve supply. If you feel anything sharp or hot, you have gone past the dead layer — stop, and give it a few days. That sensation is the signal, and it is why we tell you to start on the lowest speed.

How is this different from a cheap electric file?

The vacuum. A basic file does the same abrasion and throws the powder everywhere, which is why most of them end up in a drawer after two uses.

How often?

Short sessions, a few minutes, roughly twice a week to start, then less once the surface has come down. Grinding the same spot every day does not speed it up.

Does the collection cup actually work?

It catches the bulk of it, not literally every particle. Do it over a towel the first time and you will see how much it is holding.

Do the heads wear out?

Yes, abrasive heads are consumable. The kit ships with spares. Replacements are widely available and not proprietary.

Can I use it on hands or elbows?

It is built and sold for feet. We are not going to tell you it is fine somewhere else when we have not tested it there.
